Tim Prater is a Liberal Democrat District and Town Councillor for Cheriton, sitting on Shepway District and Folkestone Town Councils. First elected to Folkestone Town Council in March 2006, the Liberal Democrats held Cheriton at the "all-out" District and Town Council elections in May 2007.
Tim's Cheriton ward colleague on Shepway District Council is Peter Carroll, and on Folkestone Town Council Dhan Gurung. Peter Gane was elected as a Liberal Democrat Councillor in May 2007, but defected to the Conservatives in July 2008.
In May 2007, the Liberal Democrats took control of Folkestone Town Council, winning 11 of the 18 seats. As of August 2008, Folkestone Town Council has 7 Lib Dem Councillors, 7 Conservative, 3 People First and 1 Independent. At Shepway District, the Liberal Democrats are the official opposition, with 5 seats to the Conservatives 39.
In May 2007, Tim became the leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Folkestone Town Council, and Chair of the Liberal Democrat Group on Shepway District Council. Tim also Chairs the Shepway (Folkestone and Hythe) Liberal Democrats.
No Shepway Council deposits in Icelandic Banks but impact on pensions unknown

In answer to questions from Lib Dem Councillor Tim Prater, Shepway Council have confirmed that, although they have no deposits in Icelandic banks, the potential impact on pension funds currently remains unknown. Shepway's pension fund is administered by Kent County Council, who have said that around one third of the KCC deposits that have been lost relate to the pension fund - around £18 million.

Shepway Parking Strategy In Shreds in Tory v Tory Feud

Shepway's parking strategy where parking permit areas were to be introduced initially in central Folkestone and then across Cheriton, East Folkestone, Hythe and the rest of Shepway could be doomed. In a recent Shepway Council Scrutiny meeting, Conservative Shepway Finance Chief David Monk revealed that in recent discussion, Kent County Council had said that they would seek to take all income from parking charges, which would mean the scheme could not be introduced.

Sandgate Road Repairs to start, and last up to three months

Shepway Councillor Tim Prater has been told that, following a site meeting this morning between Kent Highways and Southern Water amongst others, works will begin tomorrow in Trinity Gardens, related to the issues in Sandgate Road. These are expected to last into next week and then work is expected to commence soon after to repair the sewer in Sandgate Road.

Gurkha Justice Reception at Liberal Democrat conference

Folkestone and Hythe Parliamentary Campaigner Neil Matthews, Shepway Liberal Democrat Group Leader Lynne Beaumont, Councillor Peter Carroll, Dhan Gurung, Tim Prater, Darren Briddock, Maureen Speller, Season Prater and many others have today joined a reception at Lib Dem conference in Bournemouth organised by the Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen's Organisation (GAESO).
