Sandgate Hill Road Safety Meeting

5.15.56pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 13th Sep 2009

County Councillors Tim Prater and Roland Tolputt are meeting with Kent Highways officers on Monday morning to discuss measures to slow traffic descending down Sandgate Hill from Folkestone into Sandgate.

The two County Councillors, representing neighbouring Folkestone West and Folkestone South divisions, have put in a joint bid using the new "Members Highways Fund" for a scheme to slow traffic down Sandgate Hill, where traffic regularly exceeds the 30mph limit despite a busy junction with Coolinge Lane that is often busy with schoolchildren going to and from the Folkestone School for Girls and Sandgate Primary.

The site meeting will look at potential measures that could be taken, in advance of a larger meeting between Kent Highways, Kent County Councillors and Sandgate Parish Council in October to look at a wide range of proposals through Sandgate village.
